I’ve always had someone in my corner—starting with my dad, who, when I was just 9, asked me over breakfast what I wanted out of life and made it clear he’d support me in going after it. Want to be in a play? You can be the lead. The debate team? Let’s make you number one. That early belief in me shaped my mindset around what’s possible, and it showed me how powerful it is when someone truly believes in you.

I’ve been blessed with privilege, opportunity, and support throughout my life, and I’ve always felt a strong responsibility to give back.

Whether I’m leading teams or helping people through Hack Your HR, I’m deeply fulfilled by pouring confidence and encouragement into others. I believe that growth comes with new challenges, and I’ll push you to take bold steps toward creating those “problems” you think are holding you back. Worried about losing your work bestie if you get that promotion? Let’s create that problem. Nervous you won’t know how to handle your own business finances? Let’s create that problem too. Because the real magic happens when you stretch yourself beyond what feels comfortable.

Hey there, I’m Amy Lentz, Chief People Officer at TOMS Shoes and founder of Hack Your HR, a platform I created to give you the tools, language, and confidence to get ahead in your career. My goal is simple: I want to help you advocate for yourself and navigate the corporate landscape like a pro.

Before I joined TOMS, I held positions at places like Teach For America, The White House under the Obama Administration, and several startups, where I built HR and operations strategies from the ground up. Across all these experiences, one thing has remained constant: I believe in putting people over processes. And that’s how I lead teams and coach others to do the same.
